Second Island visited: Kauaʻi. Now this island was more alike it! Although modernised, it had less traffic. The first day was chill out day in the pools that the Kauaʻi Beach Resort had to offer and there were a lot to choose from, not to mention the cascading waterfalls flowing into each of them and into the hot spas too! The beach is just opposite these pools!
The next day was used to explore the South West of the island. Let me tell you about the chickens and rosters here, they are wild, absolutely everywhere by the thousands, all along busy roads and the amazing thing is that I didn't see a single one as road kill! The locals told me, they are not interested in eating them as they would take too long to catch and then prepare! Shops sell T-Shirts that say Stupid Freakin' Chicken, lol!
Quite a beautiful Island with lots to see when you drive all around which takes about 2.5 hours, either towards North or South, that is, with no stops. For photographers everything takes longer to see as we seem to pay more close attention to not only the big apparent things but also to the small things, not to mention the time it takes to craft that perfect photograph that speaks a thousand words to the viewer.
One of the best sceneries found here in Kuai'i for me was the Waimea Canyon with its beautiful multi coloured lush Canyons and the huge Waipo'o Falls with a drop of 800 feet! Unfortunately the weather turned bad and my helicopter ride to view it from above was cancelled on me but at least I got to photograph it along the way from a few viewpoints along the windy cliff roads and I saved myself over 500 dollars!
The day ended with a beautiful Sunset, at Ke'e Beach.
